Local
activists will march from North End to City Hall on 26 May in solidarity with
the BringBackOurGirls campaign. A prayer session will also be observed.
Bring
Back Our Girls is now an international movement protesting the kidnapping of 284
Nigerian girls from their school in Chibok, Nigeria, by the terrorist group,
Boko Haram in April.
In a
recently released video, Boko Haram announced that they would be selling the
girls into slavery. Some of the girls were reportedly sold as brides to
Islamist fighters for £7.50 (about R130) each.
Meanwhile,
suspected Boko Haram militants abducted eight more girls from a village in
north eastern Borno State, according to BBC Africa.
Boko
Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, said the girls would only be freed if the Nigerian
government was willing to exchange them for jailed Boko Haram militants.
